You will need this Installation ID later. Once the “Activate Windows” window is opened, select the “Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows” option. Read the end of the post here on how to get out of it while you are trying to activate. If you can’t even get to this step and stuck outside of the desktop you are probably in the “Activation Loop”. Some Windows XP versions also have an “Activate Windows” application in the start up menu.
